Jim Wineman, founder of Wineman Technology, took an early retirement from General Motors in 1991 to start the company, which has since tipped the mark of 50 employees and deployed systems internationally – from the US to South America, to east Asia.

“Our collective passion for quality test systems, commitment to clients, belief in open platforms, and sound engineering has helped us develop a thriving business here in Saginaw. Our test solutions include focused efforts on dynamometer and hydraulic test systems, real-time control and data acquisition, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, and custom test machines,” said Jim Wineman, CEO of Wineman Technology. “We’re proud to celebrate the accomplishments we’ve made for customers and employees through the last 25 years, and are excited for the decades to come.”

Successful technology and customer engagements led to a booming business with consistent revenue growth around 20% YOY and recognition as one of America’s fastest growing companies.

As a leader in the design and development of test equipment, Wineman Technology combines dedicated engineers, the latest technologies, and state-of-the art equipment to solve critical testing challenges across a spectrum of applications. Highlights over the last 25 years include:

  • Successful Automation Software: INERTIA™, a configurable automation software developed by Wineman Technology, is optimized for real-time control and data acquisition, component test, and test cell automation. It provides test, manufacturing, and R&D engineers and scientists the ability to quickly and easily develop, configure and operate their test systems. The platform received the Test Product of the Year Award at NIWeek. In addition, the company’s newest product, TestTracker Data Management Software, is a test lab management tool for lab managers and project engineers who rely on efficient and accurate testing in R&D.
  • Custom Test Machine Experts: Wineman Technology brings deep expertise in mechanical and hydraulic design and build applications, and over time has become a critical resource for companies in need of custom test machines. Engineers at Wineman Technology are extensively trained in the end-to-end development of test systems to meet companies’ exact needs.
  • Investment in Education: Amidst the company’s continued success, Wineman Technology has sustained its investment in education, from hiring collegiate interns and providing scholarship funds to local universities to mobilizing opportunities for engineers to engage, learn, and grow in their potential to providing hands-on resources to help discover and understand real-world engineering practices.
  • Involvement in Critical Applications: Companies like Ford Motor Company and organizations like the Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) rely on Wineman Technology for test and automation expertise. Wineman Technology developed an HIL test stand to simulate, control, and monitor passenger vehicle fuel cells for Ford Motor Company and created an HIL flight surface actuation simulator to verify the design and performance of the flight control system for the Dream Chaser commercial transport spacecraft for SNC.

Long-Term Partnerships

Wineman Technology believes open, adaptable platforms are critical to the long-term success of clients’ test investments. The company’s systems are designed by customizing the latest off-the-shelf hardware and non-proprietary architectures, ultimately providing solutions that are cost-effective and more easily maintained.

As part of a commitment to delivering complete test systems with proven, off-the-shelf hardware, Wineman Technology has an established partnership with National Instruments. The NI platform allows engineers to focus on the right technology necessary to deploy the system our customer needs.

Wineman Technology has been an active NI Alliance Partner for more than two decades. The company previously received honors including a LabVIEW Tools Network Product of the Year award for INERTIA™; a LabVIEW Achievement Award for Green Engineering Application of the Year; a LabVIEW Achievement Award as a finalist in the Transportation category and finalist in Machine Control & Monitoring; and a Service Achievement Award for outstanding performance as an NI Alliance Partner for over 20 years.
