For hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, Genuen uses NI switch load signal conditioning (SLSC) for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) single conditioning. The NI SLSC extends NI PXI and C series measurement hardware with high power relays for signal switching, power loads and additional inline signal conditioning capability. The system consists of a chassis with built in active cooling capable of hosting 12 modules which can be used in applications like HIL testing. SLSC plug-in modules can operate in the chassis in three different modes; standalone, pass through or cascaded. Cascaded mode can be used to implement functionality like signal fault insertion. Users have the choice to select from a variety of 3rd party modules or create their own modules based on a detailed hardware and software development kit from NI.
One of the benefits of Genuen's HIL systems is their flexibility. SLSC reduces the non-recurring effort of creating a HIL system by reusing common elements, while still providing the capability of using custom modules. Implementing a SLSC in a HIL tester simplifies the overall design of the system by using standard cabling and reducing point-to-point wiring. SLSC is compatible with both LabVIEW and VeriStand.
