Using RTCA DO-178C for Means of Compliance_Cover 3D

Since its founding, Genuen has been providing its business partners with effective, timely avionics technology solutions, ensuring the safety of their software and computing products using RTCA DO-178C as the basis for software systems certification. The recently released Launch and Reentry License Requirements set forth in Section450.141 of the FAA’s Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations detail the certification basis for computing systems in spacecraft launch and reentry vehicles. Utilizing the knowledge Genuen has acquired of DO-178C, this document provides a detailed analysis of the guidance provided in AC 450.141-1 and identifies how the processes used for DO-178C software development may be used as a means of compliance. For details of the differences between 14 CFR Part 450.141 and DO-178C, see Genuen’s technical document “Addressing FAA 14 CFR PART 450.141: A Comparison with RTCA DO-178C”. This white paper builds upon that previous technical document by providing an acceptable means of implementation to meet the Part 450 licensing requirements.
